Alternatives to Rise Broadband: Which is better?

Rise Broadband primarily competes with satellite internet providers (like Viasat) and other fixed wireless providers. Satellite internet is extremely expensive and suffers from high latency, so it’s best left as a last resort. Compared to other fixed wireless providers, Rise Broadband tends to have less availability than these larger fixed wireless companies.

Rise Broadband vs. T-Mobile Home Internet: T-mobile has coverage nearly everywhere Rise does, but its footprint is spotty in Nebraska. T-Mobile offers much faster service (an average of 100 Mbps). You won’t have to sign a contract, pay for installation, or rent equipment, and there are no hidden fees. It’s more expensive, though, at $50 per month. That is, unless you have a T-Mobile cell phone plan. Then it’ll cost you just $265 per month.

Compare Rise Broadband internet vs. T-Mobile Home Internet.

Rise Broadband vs. Verizon 5G: Verizon has a smaller footprint than T-Mobile, but you’ll see it competing with Rise Broadband in more parts of Nebraska. If you can’t get T-Mobile where you live, Verizon is a good option to try. It’s a little slower and a little more expensive, but if you already have a Verizon cell phone plan, you’ll get more for your money than you will with Rise.

Rise Broadband vs. CenturyLink: CenturyLink DSL and Rise overlap in several states, though you probably won’t see them both if you live in Illinois. Whether CenturyLink is a better deal than Rise heavily depends on your location. DSL companies tend to charge the same price for service, even though max speeds vary widely in different areas. For around $50, you’ll get anywhere from 1.5 Mbps to 100 Mbps. It’s more reliable than Rise though, so factor that into your decision too.

Compare Rise Broadband internet vs. CenturyLink internet.

Where is Rise Broadband available?

Rise Broadband is more available than other fixed wireless providers, though not nearly as wide-reaching as satellite. The service is available in 16 states across the country, primarily in the central US.
