Due to the massive coverage area, EarthLink has a lot of competitors. Some of the larger ISPs you might consider instead are AT&T and Spectrum. Generally speaking, we’d recommend AT&T over EarthLink every time—it has a similarly strong customer service reputation and better prices.
For most other providers, including cable companies like Spectrum, the choice really comes down to how much you’re willing to pay for a better experience because EarthLink is almost always more expensive.
To cancel your internet service, call Earthlink customer service. EarthLink comes with a 12-month contract, and if you’re considering canceling before that’s up, you’ll have to pay. The early termination fee is up to $200, which is pretty standard for companies that still charge one (although many have moved beyond this model). You’ll also need to return your rented equipment.
