Is Sling TV worth the cost?
While Sling recently bumped its prices up, it was a small increase ($5 per month) and the only jump in the last two years. And even at $40–$55 for a base package instead of $35–$50, Sling is one of the cheapest live TV streaming services we’ve reviewed.
That said, we think most people will want to spring for a few add ons, like a sports or kids channel pack ($6–$15), premium channels ($5–$10), or extra DVR cloud storage ($5 for 200 hours instead of the included 50 hours). While bulking up on add-ons can get expensive fast, adding just a few could help you customize your plan while keeping your costs in line with other streaming services—and lower than most cable or satellite TV services.

How to cancel or reactivate
Canceling is super easy. You have to click through one “Are you sure?” screen and a “Why are you leaving?” screen, but then you’re done. You can’t get a refund for any time left on your subscription, but you’ll keep your access until the billing cycle ends, so that’s cool. Plus, Sling will automatically give you its free version so you’ll still get a lot of great content.
If you miss your paid Sling subscription, getting it back is also easy. You’ll get to keep any sign-up deals you had before (provided they haven’t run out yet). And if you come back within the same billing cycle, you’ll receive full access with no additional costs. It’s like you never even left.

Compatible devices
Sling TV works on a ton of devices, from the $30 Amazon Fire TV Stick to smart TVs that cost over $1,000. Both Android and Apple users can use their laptops, tablets, and phones. We also tested it on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge browsers. A few streaming devices come with the Sling app already installed (TiVo Stream, Samsung smart TVs, LG smart TVs, for example). Unfortunately, the only gaming console that supports Sling is the XBox Series X|S.

Free trial
While many streaming services have a time-boxed free trial of the full watching experience, you can sample Sling indefinitely with a free version of the app. You won’t be able to record shows and you’ll watch more commercials, but you’ll get a feel for the interface—and access to gems like the Bob Ross channel 24/7/365. If you decide to upgrade to a paid plan, you’ll get 50% off your first month.
