Is Xfinity worth the cost?
Xfinity’s base package starts at $360, and its premium package costs around $600. While this is more expensive than budget-priced systems like SimpliSafe and Cove, it’s still much more affordable than the cost of other professionally installed systems, such as Vivint and ADT.
Its middle-of-the-road pricing coupled with the quality of its components makes Xfinity a great choice for those who want a system that’s professionally installed but doesn’t come with the contracts and higher equipment costs and monitoring fees of a professionally installed system.
How Xfinity stacks up on value
We gave Xfinity the top score of 5 on value. Most professionally installed home security systems are extremely expensive, making them prohibitive for many people. And while most DIY brands are far more affordable, some people may prefer the convenience of professional installation without paying an arm and a leg for it.
For us, considering value means looking at upfront and monthly costs as well as the quality of the equipment and service. While much of Xfinity’s equipment costs more than most DIY brands, the quality of its equipment, which includes a touchscreen control panel, cameras capable of differentiating people, vehicles, and animals, and pet-friendly motion sensors, makes it worth the additional cost.
