Is DISH worth the cost?
DISH is more affordable than its closest competitor (DIRECTV), and its three-year price guarantee means you won’t have big price hikes down the road. You won’t be able to watch every Sunday NFL game, but you’ll have access to a wide variety of college games and pro sports at reasonable add-on prices. There are also packages specifically for international TV and Spanish speakers, plus special deals for Veterans, seniors, and other local heroes.
DISH has a reputation for straightforward pricing, and it’s (mostly) true. You won’t see as many fees added to your bill as you would with DIRECTV. However, you will have to pay a DVR fee or a receiver fee plus rental fees for extra equipment or upgrades. There’s a local channels fee if you want access to your local broadcast stations, but you can opt out. Last, watch out for automatic charges for premium entertainment if you forget to cancel before promotions expire.

One of the best things about switching to DISH is its three-year price guarantee for most new customers. DISH will cover installation of both your satellite receiver and DVR if you sign a two-year contract, or you can pay up front if you’d rather skip the credit check and pay a lot less (for fewer channels) month to month. If you are on the contract but cancel early, you’ll be charged $10 for every remaining month.
Monthly pricing is pretty straightforward, but keep an eye out for promotions that expire after a few months. In addition to your package price, you’ll be charged a local TV fee (which you can cancel) and either a DVR fee or a receiver fee. You’ll also pay extra if you want to upgrade to the Hopper 3 DVR or add receivers.

Canceling DISH services?
If you signed a two-year contract with DISH but want to cancel early, you will be charged $10 for every month remaining on your contract. There’s virtually no way out of the cancellation fee, but there’s good news! The DISH cancellation fee is only half as expensive as what DIRECTV charges.
